Beautifully soft thick and warm, hand made blanket.

The weft is all grown, blade shorn and hand spun here on the farm and woven on my beautiful old counterbalance Dryad floor loom.

Shetland ewe fleeces are known for their warmth and softness, as well as beautiful natural colouring. Greys from our ewes Vita and Viola combine with the warm tones of our rate breed Portland sheep to show off the patterns in the cloth.

Blade shearing in the spring means we collect the fleeces before the natural break in the fibres, typical with primitive breeds. It leaves a layer of water proofing and warmth on the animal for their welfare and the shearing day is peaceful and better for their welfare as well as for the fleece.

The warp threads have their own story; they are part of the certified regenerative flocks at @fernhillfibre. Shearling fleeces for maximum softness.
