Those of you who have been following my story for a while will know of my first ever lambs born on the farm, Flotsam and Jetsam.
These two are my absolute joy and have beautiful fleeces and are great mothers.
At the end of last summer I discovered that Jetsam had an illness called Black Udder, which I assumed meant she should be put to sleep. I called out the vet and to my absolute shock and joy, he said she should be fine with the right care!
She is no longer part of my lambing flock, she is a retired auntie who can just grow beautiful fleece year in year out. Not a bad life.
However her usually incredible fleece suffered this year with her illness and as a result some of it has last year's fleece felted on to the tips. By no means all of it, but enough that I feel I should sell this with a big discount! You can either discard those sections, or take the time to peel off the old felted fleece where the break sits naturally at the tips of this year's fleece. You will be rewarded with a rich, warm golden brown fleece, which spins up very well (see final picture).
