Portland Wool Yarn

Mill-spun Portland wool yarn in DK and 4-ply weights, sold in 100g washed skeins.

DK is a 3 ply yarn around 220m per 100g.

The 4-ply weight equates to an American Fingering weight and is two ply in structure. 

I have a small flock of Portlands and I am proud to have my very own, mill spun blade shorn Portland yarn available.

Portland is a warm soft fleece with a lovely cream colour and suitable for dyeing. As a rare breed it is important to promote their fleeces for crafting as a way to encourage breeding and care of these beautiful animals.

You are supporting the ongoing survival of a beautiful Dorset rare breed sheep, raised in Somerset and spun in Dorset. A truly small scale, rare breed, ethical, low mileage, sustainable yarn.
