Raw Portland fleece

I have a stunning collection of local, blade shorn, high lustre Portland fleeces from a registered pedigree flock.

They are blade shorn to make the most of their fleeces; famously a warm, white, down-type breed with a medium staple and gingery tones. Portland wool tends to have a higher lanolin content than other rare breeds I work with.

There are 13 ewe fleeces and 7 shearling fleeces. 

I estimate they are between 1.5 and 2kg each with minimal red kemp.

I also have finished yarn available in Portland if you prefer the finished article!

This is the beginning of a hopefully fruitful collaboration with a local Portland breeder, offering him good value for his fleeces as they are such good quality.

Portland fleeces work well both carded and handspun, or spun at the mill; they take dyes incredibly well and also are good for felting. The perfect all rounder.
