Mill-spun Shetland wool yarn in DK.
I am taking pre orders for tan/moorit, black, and grey Shetland yarn made at the mill.
This will be a well rounded 3 ply DK yarn around 200m per 100g. Sold by the 50g skein.
If you would like a 4ply weight instead, please order the colours you would like and I'll let the mill know how many need to be made that weight. They will likely be two strands rather than the 3 of the DK.
Please note: yarn can take a few months from delivery at the mill to returning to me. End of July should be the absolute latest but it may be much earlier.
This March, I was offered 30 fleeces of mostly stunning softness and crimp and decided we (that's you!) should group together and get it made into yarn! The rest of them I will make into quilt batting or carded sliver.
My shearer knows I want wool to be used and valued so he told me about these fleeces and the deal was, take all or nothing! Luckily they were almost all fantastic.
Pre orders will be added to the batch I take to Rampisham Hill Mill in Dorset for washing, carding and spinning. The more orders the more we can make.
As a rare breed it is important to promote their fleeces for crafting as a way to encourage the continuation of the breed.
