From Farm to Cloth in two days.

This two-day beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to the rewarding process of weaving on a four-shaft table loom. Designed for complete beginners, the course covers every stage of creating woven cloth, from choosing your yarns and preparing a warp to weaving your own fabric in plain and twill structures.

Rather than simply weaving on a pre-prepared loom, you'll learn the entire process, giving you the confidence and understanding to continue weaving independently.

During the workshop we will explore:

  • How to choose the right yarns for your project
  • Planning and creating a warp
  • Dressing and threading the loom for plain and twill weaves
  • How different fibres and yarns affect the finished cloth
  • Techniques for adding texture, pattern, and visual interest
  • Finishing methods, including tassels and other edge treatments

A range of yarns will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own materials if you wish. You can also choose to upgrade to yarn from the HoneyWoods Flock, my own high-welfare sheep flock, for an additional cost.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the HoneyWoods Flock and learn more about the care of the sheep and the journey from fleece to finished cloth.

Workshops run from 9.30am to 5pm each day, with a break for lunch.

My workshops are designed to help you understand every step of the weaving process, including the creative decisions involved in selecting yarns, planning a project, and setting up the loom. You will leave with a collection of woven samples and the skills to create your own projects at home.

If you would prefer to weave a finished scarf instead, please let me know in advance and I can prepare the loom for you before the workshop.

This is a private workshop for one or two people, allowing plenty of individual tuition and support. Dates can be arranged to suit you, although workshops are often booked several months in advance, so please get in touch before booking to check availability.

Teaching takes place in my beautiful wooden weaving studio on the farm, in an orchard, with free parking, tea and coffee.

All tools, equipment, yarns, and refreshments are included.

If you have specific dates in mind or would like to purchase a gift voucher, please email bec@thewovenbriar.co.uk.
