Learn to set up and weave on a rigid heddle loom on this one day beginner weaving workshop.
Rigid heddle looms are affordable, great fun and relatively fast to master, and offer a huge range of possibilities once you understand the basics.
I will provide a range of yarns and you can also bring your own, or upgrade to my high welfare yarns from the HoneyWoods Flock for an additional cost.
We will talk about
- How to choose the right yarns for your project
- How to warp up the loom
- How to weave using different kinds of yarn for different effects
- Ways to create texture and design
- Options for finishing your cloth, including tassels
- Opportunity to visit the HoneyWoods Flock and learn about their care
Workshops are 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch.
My workshops are designed to help you learn every step of the process, including making decisions about yarns and setting up your loom, as well as trying out a few different techniques that will add texture and design to your weaving. You will leave with a sample piece that includes a variety of techniques rather than a polished scarf. If you would prefer to make a scarf, let me know and I can set the loom up for you before hand.
One on one tuition or group workshops of up to four people are available.
All tools and equipment, yarns, and tea/coffee are included.
