My first ever home grown Shetland Yarn!
Mill-spun Shetland wool yarn in DK from my grey sheep, Yeva, Gertrude and Vita.
Vita is retired now from lambing, and the other two will retire this year, though they haven't lambed yet and I don't know if they will!
This DK is a well rounded 3 ply yarn around 190m per 100g skein.
Blade shorn from my little HoneyWoods Flock of pedigree Shetlands this March.
Sent to Rampisham Hill Mill in Dorset for washing, carding and spinning.
This yarn is soft and bouncy for garments worn next to your skin. It is important to promote their fleeces for crafting as a way to encourage breeding and the continuation of the breed.
A truly small scale, rare breed, ethical, low mileage, sustainable yarn.
100% natural plastic-free yarn with a soft shade gray. It accepts natural dyes easily. 100g Skeins are packaged with a 100% recycled label and recycled tape, and posted in recycled mailers.
Blade shorn, of course.
